GameDevDrinkUp’s Molyjam Arcade

2 May

GameDevDrinkUp, a monthly meetup for game developers in LA, SF, and Dallas, celebrated its one year anniversary in April and featured a Molyjam “arcade” as part of the festivities. Eight teams who participated in the jam just two weeks earlier showed up to demo their games to over a hundred game developers in Santa Monica.

Laptops were nestled on tables between pints, and with daisy-chained together by an intricate series of power strips, and lines formed to play the games as the night went on. Some of the jam participants were just there to have fun, and others took it a bit more seriously, writing down feedback from other devs as they continue to polish and evolve their games for personal pride or Indiecade aspirations.

It was great to have a mini-reunion for Molyjam LA and we’re hoping to keep building our community in between annual jams. GameDevDrinkUp is now exploring the possibility of opening up to local indie developers to show off their works every few months, so hopefully this can become a more regular occurance.
